Cairns is where the business started and it is still where most of our week is spent. Between Parramatta Park, Manunda, Westcourt, Edge Hill, Whitfield and the CBD you get a bit of everything — post-war timber homes on stumps, sixties brick and block, newer infill townhouses and a commercial strip that runs from the Esplanade out to Bungalow.

Cairns South
The southern corridor — Woree, White Rock, Bayview Heights, Mount Sheridan, Edmonton, Bentley Park, Mount Peter and out to Gordonvale — has grown fast. A lot of it is newer slab-on-ground housing on tighter blocks, plus established pockets closer to the highway.

Atherton sits high enough to feel genuinely different to the coast. Cooler nights, a real winter by FNQ standards, and homes that are as often about warmth and light control as they are about heat.

Atherton Tablelands
The Tablelands cover a lot of ground and a lot of different conditions. Ravenshoe and Herberton get properly cold and windy, Malanda and Millaa Millaa get the rain, and Yungaburra and Lake Eacham sit somewhere in between with a strong tourism and short-stay presence.

Mareeba
Mareeba is dry, hot and dusty for a good part of the year, and that changes what works. Less humidity than the coast, far more dust and sun, and a lot of properties on acreage with machinery, farm traffic and long driveways.

Innisfail
Innisfail is the wettest major town in the country and it shows in the buildings. Art deco frontages in town, timber homes on stumps, cane country all around and rainfall figures that most of Australia would not believe.
